For a long time, the aviation aluminum materials used in commercial aircraft in China have mainly been purchased from international leading enterprises such as Alcoa and Alcan, making aviation aluminum one of the core materials that restricts the manufacturing of domestically produced large aircraft.

Since March 2017, Nanshan Aluminum has been involved in the research and development of the domestically produced C919 aircraft. In May 2021, the company's independently developed 5 thick and thin plate products, including 2 series and 7 series alloy models, passed the certification of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) and were awarded the approval certificate for COMAC Civil Aircraft Aluminum Alloy Engineering, marking the domestic substitution of aluminum alloy materials for large aircraft. In June 2023, Nanshan Aluminum Industry broke through the key technology of lightweight wing truss products and successfully passed Airbus certification. As of now, multiple aviation aluminum products from Nanshan Aluminum have been successfully launched into the international market, certified and supplied in bulk by mainstream global aviation companies such as Boeing in the United States, Airbus in France, and Rolls Royce in the United Kingdom. Nanshan Aluminum has gradually become an important manufacturer of cutting-edge aviation aluminum materials in the world.

In recent years, Nanshan Aluminum's aviation aluminum alloy products have fully supported the research and production of national key aircraft such as C919, C929, and ARJ21, promoting the localization process of civil aircraft aluminum materials.

With the mass production of domestically produced large aircraft, it is expected that by the end of the 14th Five Year Plan period, the output scale of aviation aluminum alloy materials by Nanshan Aluminum Industry will continue to expand, effectively improving the overall level and international status of China's aluminum alloy manufacturing industry, and ensuring the independent and controllable key materials for aerospace.
